Character Name: Bubblestar (Bubblewhisker)
Age: 49 moons
Gender: She-Cat
Sexuality: Asexual
Clan: RiverClan
Rank: Leader
Appearance: Bubblestar is a cat who does stand out among her clan-mates. Certainly not lacking an size, maybe even standing taller than a lot of the she-cats around her, she stands high and proud in a crowd, something which is assisted by naturally long legs and tail. Her pelt plays no small part in making her seem larger as well, the long furs often puffed up against the cold air, and adding significantly to her size. It is purely water and the swimming that the clan is so fond of that make her true size known. Otherwise, it can be easy to get lost in fur and long limbs. Pure white in every sense of the word, there is not a speck of natural colour in her long pelt, only snowy white which is often muddied by the ground and plants around the territory. Standing out against the white is eyes of pure blue, both sloping more to a darker shade than anything lighter. It is certainly a rare colouring, given her pelt, yet she holds none of the typically seen hearing difficulties that come with it. Yet, there is an ever so slight issue with her sight, where she is just that bit more sensitive to sunlight. Not to the point where is impairs her completely, but enough that in the brightest of light, she can have trouble. These almond-shaped eyes settle evenly on her slightly longer face, topped with rather large ears.
Personality:Bubblestar has never been the easiest person to get along with. Sure, you will not find a more willing person to talk to, but the thing is this she-cat, well frankly she can get annoying very quickly to certain cats. A talker, it takes a lot to stop her from rambling on about anything that comes to mind. Usually, as soon as she's off, there's not much space for anyone else to get a word in until she's stopped. However, some might be surprised exactly how much she does listen and takes in, for all her acting like she isn't. An independent sort of she-cat some are surprised in the reliability that the she-cat has to offer, especially given along with her difficulty to show that she's listening, it can often seem like she has little sympathy or compassion for those straight off the bat. It isn't the case, but she does a good job at not putting it across at times.
Now, some might say that they can handle the talking, which is all well and good. The thing is when that's coupled with her somewhat mishandling of others emotions, she's come to have absolutely no filter on her tongue. Oh, yeah, she knows when to hold it, but when she's not she will openly say whatever's on her mind. This lets her come off as rather blunt, and generally if you've done something to bother her or simply that she disagrees with, you'll know quickly. Though the way she can say things can be summed up as rather rude. Yes, that's probably the best way to sum up her general attitude to a lot of cats. Bordering on Rude. She will stick her nose into anyone's business and question them about it, putting in her own views wherever she can at the attempt to help.
This tied in with her curiosity makes her a general hassle at times. Now, let me clear something up. She doesn't go out to upset anyone by going on about nothing. Not in the slightest. But if she says it, it's been done and she won't take it back. That's the way she views everything. Once it's done, there's nothing that can change it so usually, there's no reason to linger on it. Though over time she's found certain things are hard to move on from, even if she tries. A believer of fate, she believes everything happens for a reason and that everything must have for a reason, there is a lot more into it than that. However this believe leave her unable to fight change, she tends to go with it, even if it completely destroys her.
This tends to leave Bubblestar in a state where she in incredibly hard to shake up. Threaten, abuse, yell, scream, break down in a mess in front of her, none of it really gets to her. Some call this dim-witted, the fact that she could have claws to her throat and not be the slightest bit phased, but, it's who she is. If something's meant to happen it will, otherwise it won't. This may be okay if she was any normal person, but Bubblestar is what many would call jeopardy friendly. If there's a bad situation around, she will without hesitation get involved. Impulsive to a fault, she doesn't think things through in the slightest and deals with everything later. Hey, if the idea appeared in the first place who is she to ignore it? Amazingly enough, she's rarely come out of these situations harmed though. Threatened and maybe half-starved, but never damaged.
This is mostly due to the fact she is far from an idiot. An intelligent enough she-cat with plenty of life experience to understand what goes on around her, she can learned to get herself out of any issue she gets herself involved with. She knows how to think like her opponents or those she has to face, even has a curiosity in the more dangerous side of things. It helps with a lot of situations, but at the same time, can be a bit of a difficult thing for others to handle as she can quickly become a smart-alec, listing off everything she knows at the flick of a switch. It can drive people mad. All in all though, to those who actually stick around long enough, she's a bit like a giant child, always laughing and grinning about something, and finding the smallest things to entertain herself with for hours, despite being naturally hyperactive.
What many have dismissed in the past, but the former leader saw, is that there is a loyal, trustworthy she-cat there somewhere, while it might not seem it at first. Her clanmates are important to her, and she is at heart loyal to RiverClan. She also attaches to people quickly and in many ways is quick to trust, and the fact she tends to get too many second chances makes her an easy target for people who just want someone to play with. Yet, to those who really do stick by her, she can quickly become a very compassionate, protective person. Those who she's close to she can go the complete opposite way to those on the outside and notice their every change of emotion with just a glance.
In many ways, a lot of the skills that make her a good leader are the ones other cats don't see until it matters. her compassion, her listening, her strategic skill and intelligence, it's all somewhat hidden, as is her natural ease at organisation of cats and events. In her loud, limitless way, she is good at get messages across and getting done what needs to be done, without a doubt. It is this, and this alone that made cats calm down after such an unpredictable cat was named deputy. She has proved she can live up to such a roll and thrive in it, possibly becoming more bearable to her clan in the meantime. With a focus after all, she is a lot better to work with and follow through.
For all her irritations and flaws, she's not a she-cat who turns everyone against her, and when it counts, she can be reliable and there for those who need her, even if she's not particularly close to her. it all comes down to circumstance. But for RiverClan, for the clan and for StarClan she will always be at the ready to follow the path she has set out before her.
What hasn't been touched is her temper. Now, Bubblestar is not the type to get worked up easily either, however, if there is something she really believes in or wants to stand for, she will do so and can quickly become aggressive in fighting for the cause. Whether it be a person's reputation, some sort of issue in society, the works. Everyone knows the moment she is upset, because while she often squeals and makes other loud noises, it is impossible to miss her yelling, which is naturally what happens when she's angry, she raises her voice to yelling pitch. While she won't be able to speak for days, it's usually enough to scare people off or at least aggravate them. It only happens rarely, but when she's loyal to something that much, she will break whatever rules are in place to see that there is nothing getting the the way of that view or person.
History: Milkfur and Snowstrike were two cats that no one doubted would get together. Both were strong warriors who never left each other’s side, and in turn they planned to have a family in the same fashion, tight and loyal to RiverClan above all else. The two kits were born on a peaceful night with little concern to anyone, with the birth being quick and simple. The only problem was what to name the kits, with their white pelts being similar to the rest of the family. Eventually, the little tom of the litter was dubbed Icekit, however, the she-cat remained unnamed. That was until she opened her eyes. Then, the she-cat was named Bubblekit, and quickly, trouble broke out, the two happy kits eager to adventure across the camp.
Quickly, it became apparent though that there was something wrong with Bubblekit's sight. While she could still see just fine most of the time, in the bright sunlight, she often complained of it being too bright to do anything. An inspection by the medicine cat raised concerns, but it was decided she’d likely grow out of the issue. But, to Icekit and Bubblekit, none of that mattered. With the camp to explore, there wasn't a doubt to the she-cat's mind that she'd become a warrior, and get to do whatever she wanted for the rest of her life in the clan.
The day came when Bubblekit and Icekit became apprentices, and the white she-cat was placed under the patient care of a tom named Hawkdive, who was able to take the she-cat and cope with the energy that quickly became a defining feature of the young cat. Things were simple, happy. Both parents continued with their duties, the family was close, and things worked well between them all. Bubblepaw spent her time split between her brother and Hawkdive, soaking up as much as she could. At thirteen moons, Milkfur excitedly shared the news she was expecting another litter of kits, much to everyone's excitement. After that, hings moved quickly, Bubblepaw becoming Bubblewhisker and joining her brother as a warrior, Icefall, and eventually, when the siblings were thirteen moons, their single sister was born, and named Whitekit.
However, things didn't start off well, with Milkfur growing sick soon after the birth. Whitekit was separated from her, and the whole family could only watch as she got worse. It was barely half a moon before Milkfur joined StarClan, another queen taking over Whitekit's care. It marked a change in Snowstrike's attitude, as he threw himself into clan life, and made sure to more than ever, push the ideal of being best onto Whitekit. All Bubblewhisker could do was watch in dismay, dealing with her mother's death in her own way, and trying her best to support her brother, and her little sister where she could. However, with her duties in the way, she didn't spend nearly as much time with her sister as she would have liked, and soon enough, Whitekit became an apprentice, and things continued on.
Whitepaw obviously struggled under their father’s expectations, but nothing that Icefall and Bubblewhisker could say seemed to help. Eventually, all their pestering did was turn the younger she-cat completely against them, and in turn aggravate their father. After all, what did those two have to do with anything? It was one particular fight that drove the final wedge in the family, when Icefall and Snowstrike got into a yelling match in the middle of camp over the issue. They were split into halves, Bubblewhisker and her brother, Whitepaw with their father. It was the end of any family relationship, and things faded somewhat into the background. They had each other, Icefall insisted. That was all that mattered.
She received her first apprentice at twenty-seven moons, a bouncy little tom by the name of Redpaw. From the start the two clicked, and their relationship took off, Redpaw thriving and Bubblewhisker more than happy to go along with everything the tom wanted to do. There was no issues for the stretch of the time, and somehow, the she-cat found herself being quite strict on the little tabby as he grew older. But, they held tight, and with Redpaw befriending Icefall with a few badly times jokes and encouragements, well, he became almost a substitute little sibling. Bubblewhisker never missed the irritated looks Whitesnow would give across camp whenever she saw the three together. But, she ignored them. Their sister had made it quite clear she wanted to live away from them.
Redpaw became Redbelly, and he stayed close, as the two white siblings showed the younger tom the best way to fulfil his duties. From a distance, it was this organising, this teaching, that caught Ravenstar’s attention. The quiet leader never missed the hidden skills the she-cat showed here and there. At thirty-five moons she was given Mousepaw to catch, a timid little brown tom. White he was a bit harder to budge along than Redpaw had been, Bubblewhisker did her best, toning down her attitude more than anyone had seen before. This demonstration was the key to Ravenstar, and then the deputy turned in to retire from the role, and move to the elder’s den, he named Bubblewhisker confidently the new deputy.
Needless to say, a lot of the clan feared for their future. This somewhat impulsive, irritating, sticky-beak of a cat was going to be their leader one day. Yet, She proved to surprise, continuing to work with Mousepaw while getting a handle on her new tasks, and quickly getting the clan into order and the best productivity they could be in. it surprised many, but over the following moons, as Mousepaw became Mousecatcher, and eventually to Ravenstar’s death of old age, she earned enough respect that stepping up only somewhat annoyed some cats. It’s been her conscious effort since to show that she acknowledges their concerns with a deputy that balances her.
